ESOL Program

Welcome to the Douglas County School System’s ESOL parent resource page.  We understand your child faces unique challenges in the classroom as he or she strives to learn rigorous academic content while developing English language proficiency.  The Douglas County School system understands that these challenges are opportunities for our schools to build dynamic partnerships with our ESOL families.  The resources provided are intended to strengthen that partnership by:

* Explaining key components of the DCSS ESOL program
* Describing the Title III supplemental language services available to your child
* Offering a variety of resource links to help families support learning at home, as well as making valuable connections with schools, teachers, and the community
* Together we can maximize student achievement for our English learners.

The ESOL program in Douglas County is designed to meet the needs of students for whom English is not their dominant or native language. The goal is to prepare students for success in school and in society through the development of cultural awareness and English language proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
