The Alexander High School softball team is off to a fast start in 2024 behind the leadership of its seniors.
The Lady Cougars won their first four games and were 9-5 overall and 5-2 in Region 5-5A through the end of last week.
Senior pitcher Kaylee Underwood has been dominant on the mound, going 7-3 early in the season with a 2.03 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 58 innings. Underwood is also hitting a lofty .324 at the plate.
Fellow senior Baylee Dowdy is supplying the power at the plate for the Lady Cougars, with a .378 average, four homers and 17 RBIs.
“We've got a great group of girls and they work hard,” Coach Phillip Nasworthy said. “The present and future are very bright at AHS!”
