student getting an award

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.'s Carrollton Douglasville Alumni Chapter recently recognized five outstanding DCSS students for academic achievement. The members presented the award this week to a high-achieving student at each high school.

Destin Purnell of Alexander High School and Keetan Parrish of Lithia Springs High School were among the recipients of $500 scholarships. Parrish won the academic award in memory of Samuel Micah Moon, an exceptional LSHS STEM student who died during a Sweet Sixteen house party. Parrish, who has a 3.9 GPA, is pictured with Samuel Moon's mother and sister.
