The Douglas County Education Foundation (DCEF) recognized 25 scholarship recipients from
the Class of 2025 during a special reception April 23 at the Douglas County School System Central Office.
A total of $48,000 was awarded to seniors representing all five DCSS high schools thanks to generous community donors. DCEF received 162 student applications for the 11 available scholarships this year.
During the ceremony, donors including former Atlanta Hawk and DCSS alumnus Mario West, Frank Winn, Karen Emory and Master Gardener Jenny Harwood spoke about the importance of providing scholarships through the Douglas County Education Foundation.
Superintendent Dr. Trent North, DCEF Executive Director Kenya Elder and DCEF board members also attended and spoke to the large gathering.
Elder said the reception was a “powerful reminder of what’s possible when a community comes
together to invest in its future.”
“We were proud to honor 25 exceptional students, connect them with the donors who believe in them, and celebrate the impact of educational opportunity across Douglas County,” Elder said. “The energy in the room was inspiring, and the evening truly reflected the mission of the Douglas County Education Foundation, to open doors, elevate dreams, and support the next generation of leaders.”
