Anointed Enahoro, a Douglas County High School senior in the International Baccalaureate program, has been selected for a highly prestigious international honor.
Enahoro was recently named one of 12 members of the first-ever Youth Advisory Council at the Geneva, Switzerland-based International Baccalaureate organization from a pool of 1,400 applicants. She is the only representative on the Council from the United States.
“I am happy for the opportunity to represent our school and community, and I want to be able to give a voice that represents my peers,” said Enahoro, who plans to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and major in computer science.
The IB organization said the members selected for the Council demonstrated passion, leadership and dedication to transforming education worldwide. The 12 members successfully navigated a rigorous selection process, including essays, testimonials and videos reviewed by Senior Leadership at the IB organization.
“We are proud of Anointed's determination and grit, and we celebrate all that is to come,” Douglas County High School Principal Kenja Parks said. “She is quite deserving of this international honor.”
The 12 students selected for the Council will help shape education for 1.95 million IB students globally, working alongside IB leadership.
Enahoro will begin her Council duties at the IB Global Conference in The Hague in October, where all 12 members will gather for the first time.
