Alexander Head Cross Country Coach Jimmy Sorrells is in his second year leading the Cougars’ storied program.
Sorrells said he’s excited about the direction of the program, noting that Alexander will host the sectionals for all of Class 5A, meaning all teams will compete at the Cougars' home course at Bouckaert Farm to get to state.
“This group of kids have really bought into what we're trying to do,” Sorrells said at the recent DCSS Fall Athletic Media Day at Legacy Arena. “And what I mean by that is understanding that this is not an easy sport. It's very tough handling adversity. And I know a lot of times those things get talked about in a cliche kind of way. But this group has embraced it. I mean, they face a lot of challenges and they're not afraid to go out there and really put themselves through what they have to do to get better.”
Sorrells and Assistant Coach Kendra Tippens highlighted four key runners:
Holly Adolphe (senior)
Emily McDonald (junior)
Cayden Guidry (senior)
Drew Lester (senior)
