Lithia Springs High School Junior Naomi Wood turned a simple class project into a widespreadNaomi Wood with her Nay Nay's Ouch Pouches community service initiative. Under the name Nay Nay's Ouch Pouch, Wood creates and donates first-aid kits to those in need. As of mid-September, over 400 kits had been distributed.

The idea originated while Wood was making first-aid kits for a HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) event. The original goal was to create just 100 kits, but after people started donating supplies, the project quickly grew.

"It got me thinking about everyone else who might need first-aid kits," she said.

Each "ouch pouch" is carefully packed with essential items, including bandages, alcohol prep pads, antibacterial creams, and gauze. The kits are then donated to local organizations that serve the community, such as The Pantry in Douglasville, GIFT Church, and Likewise Ministries.

The immediate goal is to connect with additional community groups that could use the free first-aid kits. Wood is also looking for more donations to keep the project going.

The project operates entirely on donations. Monetary donations are not accepted. Wood relies on donated supplies to continue the work.
