Fifth-grade students from Annette Winn Elementary attended the 2025 Governor's Red Ribbon
Kick-Off in Mableton on Oct. 23, enjoying performances from other schools and hearing inspiring messages promoting drug-free lifestyles.
This was the second year AWES fifth-graders have attended the event, according to media specialist Lisa Burtz.
Annette Winn counselor Dr. Corlissa Wilson organized the visit, which marked the official start of the statewide Red Ribbon Campaign and was hosted by the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities.
"The Governor's Red Ribbon Kickoff helped to reinforce the importance of living a healthy and drug-free life" Wilson said.
In addition to the performances and inspiring messages, students also received a bag filled with items featuring this year's slogan: "Life Is Like a Puzzle, Solve It Drug Free."
"I learned I should keep my body healthy and drug-free because I am perfect and beautiful without drugs," fifth grader Kylah Scott shared.
