MCES students with ice cream and the black out chart

Mount Carmel Elementary School students are celebrating an academic milestone with a sweet reward. The school's recent "Black Out the Chart" challenge motivated students to score 80% or higher on their i-Ready Reading assessments.

Through consistent effort, perseverance, teamwork and support from teachers and staff, students successfully met the goal. To celebrate this exciting accomplishment, they enjoyed an ice cream treat of their choice.

Fourth grader Anson Price, who really looked forward to meeting the goal, shared, “This was great and I cannot wait until the next goal!”

Principal Dr. Tenia Boone expressed her pride in the students’ efforts, stating, “We are so proud of our students’ commitment to learning and growth. Their hard work shows what can be accomplished when we stay focused and motivated,” she explained. “It also shows how if we work as a team to meet our goals, we can accomplish anything.”

Mount Carmel Elementary School continues to promote academic excellence and a love for learning through engaging schoolwide challenges like this, reminding students that hard work truly pays off.
