Seventh-graders at Chapel Hill Middle School brought science to life recently with a special biome box project.
To make the project a success, students had to understand the important factors that make the biomes different from one another such as climate, plants and animals, according to teacher Kacie Johnson.
Johnson tasked her students with putting a little of their personalities into their biomes.
Once the biomes were completed, CHMS hosted a special gallery to showcase the biomes. Science teachers from each pod set up classrooms with the biomes and students went to each room to view the biome boxes before casting their votes for their favorites.
"They all shined, which made each and every box different," Johnson said. "The way they used very different items to represent different factors of the biome left me speechless and proud."
