New Manchester’s girls' basketball team is coming off a 24-6 season that saw them advance to
the Elite 8 of the Class AAAAA state playoffs.
The Lady Jaguars are loaded again this year with the potential for another deep postseason run.
Senior guard Andrea Guilford just signed her letter of intent last week to play at the next level at Division I Austin Peay. Guilford is averaging 15 points and four rebounds in her career and has made the All-Region team twice and All-State team once, even while battling through injuries.
Guilford is joined by four other returners: junior guard Devin Furgess, senior forward True Moye, senior guard Sidney Tigner and sophomore forward Katelyn Cherry.
Coach Vincent Parks also spotlighted four key freshmen newcomers: guards Bailey Daniels and Bailey Marcus, forward Jaidyn Hill and center Meleeyah Fletcher.
“This season we will have a mixture of age and talent,” Parks said. “If our young players develop through the season like I think they will, then we have a chance to be pretty good. We will lean on our returning players to lead this group and see how far we can go this season.”
