MCES students with their blankets for Wellstar.

This year, the Mount Carmel Elementary Jr. Beta Club is spreading warmth and cheer through a MCES students with their blankets for Wellstarspecial service project dedicated to the Douglas Wellstar Infusion Center. Students worked together to create handmade knot blankets designed to provide physical and emotional comfort to patients during their treatment sessions. The blankets also served as a lasting reminder of the community’s care and kindness.

“Through this project, Jr. Beta members learned the power of compassion and the impact of a simple act of service,” said Media specialist Kelsey Howard. “The dedication required to complete these blankets was significant, as students prioritized the needs of others over their own free time.”

Kimberly Houston, the school’s gifted teacher and Jr. Beta sponsor, shared her pride in the students' efforts.

"It is an honor to sponsor our dedicated Jr. Beta members, who consistently show compassion and a desire to serve others," she said. "This project was especially meaningful, as many of us have been personally touched by loved ones undergoing infusion treatments. The students worked diligently during meetings and even gave their own recess time to create blankets and comfort cards. Seeing these young ladies and gentlemen come together to bring warmth and encouragement to others has been truly inspiring."

By sharing their time, energy, and encouragement, these young leaders are making a meaningful difference—proving that you are never too young to brighten someone’s day.
