The DCHS Robotics Club recently hosted one of the five FIRST Tech Challenge League Tournaments held across the state. They welcomed nearly 20 teams from surrounding schools and communities.
DCHS teams had a great showing in the competition. Team #7482 Java Beans took home the THINK Award for their Engineering Notebook. Team #8678 Mega Bytes was the third-place Alliance Captain advancing to the semi-finals round of the playoffs.
“We are extremely proud of our students and all the hard work they have put in since the season began back in September,” stated DCHS Principal Kenja Parks. The DCHS robotics club is sponsored by STAR Teacher Andrew Adams. “His efforts to expand design technology awareness are supported by a Google grant, now in its third year,” Parks added.
FIRST(For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a global nonprofit organization that prepares young people for the future through a suite of welcoming, team-based robotics programs for K-12 students
Many thanks are extended to all of the community members who volunteered to be judges and referees and helped to make the event successful.
