Beta Club members at Beulah Elementary visited the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta for a
hands-on civics experience.
Students met Governor Brian Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp, spoke with state Rep. Kimberly New, and observed a bill move through the House of Representatives, including discussion and voting.
They also watched lobbyists in action, including the Junior League advocating for literacy. The trip was both educational and memorable, with students enjoying the ride on Douglas County charter buses.
The club recently welcomed a new class of Beta Club members, celebrating a total of 29 students — 13 returning members and 16 new inductees.
The annual Beta Induction Ceremony, held on March 12 this year, welcomed new members alongside returning students and their families. The ceremony is considered one of the highlights of the school year, with student officers playing a central role in leading the event and welcoming new inductees.
“Working with these incredible students is an honor,” said Beta Club sponsor Michelle Smith. “I am confident they will become outstanding leaders, and I hope I have shown them just a few of the ways to lead with purpose.”
The Beulah Beta Club also focuses on service. Upcoming projects include sponsoring an “Egg Adventure” with the school’s kindergarten students and collecting supplies for the local animal shelter.
Additionally, students will have the opportunity to meet local author Kim Eldredge, who will discuss her book “The Sky Is the Limit” and share insights on how leadership can start at a young age.
“It is truly a joy to watch our students grow in both leadership and service,” said sponsor Kim
Munoz. “Working with our fourth and fifth graders at Beulah Elementary has been especially meaningful, as I’ve seen firsthand how encouragement and patience can build their confidence. Being part of their journey reminds me daily of the importance of supporting our students and leading by example.”
Beulah Principal Wiley Dailey added: “The BEES Beta students continue to lead with service, character, and pride — we are incredibly proud of their growth and dedication.”
Beulah Assistant Principal Sarah Brownlow said, “It was an honor to be part of the induction ceremony and welcome these outstanding students into BEES Beta.”
