Sweetwater students and staff enjoy their trip to Savannah at the beach and a restaurant.

Sweetwater Elementary School students recently experienced a piece of Georgia history during Two Sweewater students display a project at a museum on their Savannah trip.an overnight trip to Savannah that they will not soon forget.

Their journey began with an early morning departure and a stop in Macon before the group made its way to Savannah.

Over the next two days, students stopped at the Marine Science Center to explore coastal science exhibits before taking a beach walk along the Georgia coast. Later, they toured one of the oldest African American congregations in the country and took in the city's architecture aboard a trolley. They also spent time at Forsyth Park, taking in the beauty of one of Savannah's most beloved landmarks.

Sweetwater Elementary Principal Tanish Springer reflected on what the experience meant for the school community. "For many of our students, this trip marked their first time staying in a hotel and visiting the beach. These moments created lasting memories not only for our students, but for our staff as well."
