Classrooms were transformed into interactive hubs where students explored the exciting world of science, technology, engineering and math.

From crafting their own slime to designing structures with pipe cleaners, each station was created to spark curiosity and make learning fun. Laughter, excitement and a sense of wonder filled the halls as students eagerly experimented and created.

A highlight of the evening included the collaboration with Alexander’s Robotics program and the College and Career Institute (CCI) Academy. Fresh off a recent robotics competition win, Alexander High students brought their robot to life before the eyes of younger learners. Students not only watched in amazement but also had the chance to personally guide and operate the robot. Additionally, the high school team took time to explain how robotics works and how creativity, coding and engineering come together to turn ideas into reality.

Meanwhile, CCI Academy students introduced families to the fascinating world of forensics, demonstrating how fingerprints are used for identification. They also led engaging lessons on buoyancy, helping students understand why some objects float while others sink, turning everyday observations into exciting scientific discoveries.

Adding even more energy to the night, community partner GreyStone Power Corporation showcased its Electricity Safety Truck. Their live demonstrations taught students how electricity powers homes and the importance of staying safe around it. Students were captivated as they learned about conductors and insulators, witnessing how quickly objects can ignite when exposed to live power–an unforgettable lesson in safety.

The event brought together students, parents, and educators for an evening that was as inspiring as it was educational.

“My son loved the robots,” shared parent Gillian Becerril-Castro as her child studied the machine’s movements.

Principal Dr. Tenia Boone reflected on the impact of the night saying, “There is nothing quite like seeing a student realize that the technology they use today could be the career they lead tomorrow. STEM Night allowed our students to see firsthand how hands-on exploration builds the foundation for a lifetime of success and innovation.”

Mount Carmel’s STEM Night was more than just an event — it was a celebration of curiosity, creativity and the endless possibilities that come with learning.

“The school looks forward to continuing to inspire the next generation of thinkers, creators and innovators,” said Dr. Boone.
