Fifteen students at Stewart Middle School recently gained essential digital skills and walked away with free laptops through a special partnership with Compudopt, a nonprofit focused on
providing technology access and education to youth.
A Compudopt instructor led the students through a seminar covering basic computer skills, digital literacy, internet usage and safety, email and how to use the Google Suite for tasks like resume building and job searches.
Media specialist Heather Deal said the students were actively engaged throughout, asking questions and building college and career-ready knowledge.
“We sincerely appreciate Compudopt’s commitment to empowering the next generation,” she said. “Partnerships like this play a vital role in strengthening our community and expanding access to technology and education.”
Each student received a free laptop after completing the seminar, and Deal said many were already putting them to use for learning, studying and creative projects. One student has already started writing her next picture book.
