Mount Carmel Elementary recently rolled out a special invitation to its most dedicated volunteers: parents. With lots of smiles and enthusiasm, moms and dads traded their usual drop-off routine for something bigger, greeting students curbside with cheerful hellos as they kicked off their school day.

“Having parents participate in everyday campus routines aligns directly with our theme for the year: Reflect, Refine, and Rise,” said Principal Dr. Tenia Boone, who coordinated the initiative.

Dr. Boone shared the critical role family involvement plays in a thriving school environment.

"Parent engagement is truly near and dear to my heart," she said. "I believe schools are strongest when families have meaningful opportunities to partner with us. After seeing other schools involve parents in their car rider lines, I was excited to bring that idea to our school. Seeing our parents volunteer their time and work alongside our staff was a wonderful reminder of the power of school-family partnerships."

Building on the success of Friday's turnout, Mount Carmel is already planning more volunteer events for the remainder of the school year. Staff and administrators continue to champion parent involvement in daily activities, reinforcing the idea that a strong community is a team effort.
