Two Douglas County School System nutrition directors have earned the state's top honor in school nutrition. Dolores Hall, nutrition director at Turner Middle School, and Alysia Powell, nutrition director at Eastside Elementary School, each received the Cafeteria Award of Excellence from the Georgia Department of Education's School Nutrition Division.

The Georgia Department of Education presents this award annually to programs that go beyond requirements in meal quality, food safety, customer service, student participation and program integrity.

Hall and Powell lead teams that balance nutrition standards with food students want to eat. Their recognition reflects years spent building programs that students and families trust.

"This distinguished honor celebrates our commitment to going beyond expectations and creating a positive dining experience that supports student health and success," said Danielle Freeman, Executive Director of School Nutrition. "This award represents the daily commitment of our nutrition teams to feed Douglas County students well."
