The Douglas County volleyball team had its best season in five years in 2025, winning 17 games and reaching the state playoffs.

For third-year head coach Kelli Hornberger, the task this year is to keep building on that momentum.

"Our goal this year is to make it as far as we did last year," Hornberger said at the recent DCSS Fall Sports Media Day.

Hornberger spotlighted four upperclassmen who have contributed at the varsity level for at least two years — senior defensive specialist Brasela Lucas, senior outside hitter Jurnee Thomas, junior outside hitters Lani Adams and Allysan Morris.

"I'm most excited about this season being my senior year," Thomas said. "I'm just really excited to end with these girls. I love my team. We have a really good group of girls. So I'm just excited to see what this season brings for us. I know we have a lot of potential."

The Lady Tigers will compete against the other county teams in the Douglas County Volleyball Championship on Saturday at Legacy Arena.
