The Factory Shoals Middle School Junior Beta Club recently participated in the Million Meal Pack at State Farm Arena, helping pack meals for 260,000 families.
Although it was the students’ first time participating in the community service project, “they enjoyed the experience and were happy to have the opportunity,” said Callilia Clement, Beta Club Sponsor and eighth-grade business teacher at FSMS.
"I couldn't be prouder of our Junior Beta Club members for stepping up to serve over a quarter-million families, demonstrating the true heart of leadership and community service that defines Factory Shoals Middle School,” she added.
The Junior Beta Club participates in community service projects throughout the school year while promoting academic achievement, character, service and leadership. Through its activities, the club encourages students to develop leadership skills, demonstrate responsibility and serve their school and community.
Principal Lavar Hickerson praised Junior Beta Club members and sponsors Clement and Sheridan Mitchell for dedicating their time and effort to serving others.
“This was our first time participating in this particular community service activity and we hope to make it an annual tradition for the FSMS Junior Beta Club,” Mitchell said.
